Engineering procurement of project materials |
| |
Given a set of plans or blueprints, either directly from the client or from the Gateway Design Engineering Division, the Engineering and Procurement (E&P) division can quickly provide a complete procurement solution, from initial plan analysis to just in time delivery. The department’s activities include
- Plan Analysis
- Co-ordination
- Purchasing
- Expediting
- Inspection
- Traffic/Logistics
- Site Material Control
E&P division has the capability of providing procurement services directly to clients acting as procurement consultants, purchasing agents and expeditors.
A project Procurement Coordinator, specifically assigned to a client, oversees all procurement related activities, enabling clients to focus on other mission critical tasks. Early assignment of the coordinator permits maximum interface with the engineering, planning and construction divisions to establish schedule milestone dates for material deliveries. This early involvement benefits both the project procurement effort and overall efficiency of the project’s execution.
The material procurement effort encompasses the following:
- Analysis of plans or blueprints to identify all needed products and services
- Obtain quotes for equipment and/or service
- Preparation of Purchase Requisition
- Preparation of Purchase Order
- Local Procurement
- Expediting
- Vendor Surveillance
- Shipping and Customs
- Delivery Verification
