Because we operate in hazardous industrial sectors, protecting people and the environment is Gateway’s most important priority. We comply with all relevant environmental, health, regulatory, safety and security requirements, but we believe our responsibility for Health, Safety and the Environment (HSE) goes much further than simply fulfilling legal obligations.

At Gateway, we strive for our HSE performance to be something we can be proud of, earning the confidence of our customers, and the communities in which we operate. We seek to be a responsible, good neighbour and to play an active role in sustainable development. Our entire focus is on making sure we work in a manner that will cause:

No accidents, No harm to people, and No environmental damage

To ensure we meet this obligation, we:

    • Measure and publicly report HSE performance, and maintain open dialogue with stakeholder groups in the communities where we operate to ensure we are continually reducing risk

    • Work with governments and stakeholders to develop regulations and best practice standards that improve the safety and health of people, and the environment

    • Consult openly with employees, contractors, customers, neighbours and relevant public interest groups and stakeholders, to include their input in decisions over HSE matters

    • Provide relevant safety and health information to contractors and require them to provide proper training for the safe, environmentally sound performance of their work

We endeavour to create a culture in which our commitment to HSE is shared by all of our employees.
